Is the weather pattern changing.......

For as long as I care to remember this is the first year that we have not had any snow or ice around the start of the New Year, which is a welcomed change to the usual 5am starts breaking the ice. Although we had issues with the wind generally its been pretty good with even the odd natural hatching around midday. Try and start your day off on a intermediate line working the top 4 to 6 foot of water with damsel patterns or zonkers, the bay area of the top lake is currently holding lots of small roach fry which will probably be very high up on the trouts menu at the moment. As the water warms switching to a floater is a possibility, try bloodworms, hares ears and black buzzers and look out for any ripple as this is the key to success. Fish of the week goes to Mr Chris Schofield from Rochdale with a beauty caught on a home tied zonker pattern fished from a intermediate line. Other notable catches were Mr Colin Cooper from Manchester with a 23lb + brace caught on a cats whisker fished from a intermediate line.
