January still continues to be very mild.....

Another week passes without any sign of bad weather that normally comes with having a fishery high up in the Pennine hills. Fishing still continues to be good with the help of the mild air, floating lines have proved a good tactic with fish being caught to black buzzers especially around both cage structures. Egg flies have also proven to be sucessfull tactic when fished with a sight indicator around the 5 foot mark with platform 2 being the best area on the lower lake with a white or yellow egg. Bunny leaches or rabbits have worked best on intermediate lines when fished around 4 to 6 foot down, fishing them with quick short pulls has been the best method. The bay area on the top lake is still holding lots of roach fry, look out for trout bow waving in the shallow water then pick a lure that best imitates a fry....maybe a mini white lure or a white rabbit and cast towards them and strip it back fast. Fish of the week goes to Mr Bob Law from Bury with a stunning silver rainbow, look at that tail!!! Bob caught the fish on a black and green fritz fished from a sinking line. Fish of this quality are going to be the bench mark that we are setting for this year, young fit and beautiful.
