Recent rain is very welcome.........

After a very long hot and dry spell we have now been blessed with plenty of heavy rain, which in turn has lifted the lake back to it's natural level. The rain is not only good news for the fishery is great news for fisherman, with fish starting to feed higher up in the water column. Try and fish natural patterns in the rippled areas such as daddies, elk hair sedges, cdc and shipmans buzzers. You will be able to tell in the first 20 minutes if this tactic will produce fish, if you have no luck then try and strip the fly just subsurface so that it creates a "bow wave" and watch the water behind the fly as the trout may follow the fly right up to the banks edge, just remember not to strike until you feel the fish bite. The lure fishermen have had lots of joy around the 8 foot mark with snakes flies still out fishing most other patterns. We have the red leech rabbit back in stock but only on a limited supply so if you want one best get it while you can. Fish of the week goes to Mr David Moreton of Northwich with another very bright silver rainbow caught on a orange tadpole fished from a sinking line, this was david's first ever double in 30 years of fishing, well done!!
