Is that the end of summer......

Although most of you will agree it seems we have missed out on summer this year. We may have not had the really long hot spells but August is still August and the water is just like a soup for the trout with an abundant amount of natural food around. That said along with the warmer water in the top band it makes the fishing difficult if you are only willing to fish a dry line. September is a better month and thankfully we are in it now so we can look forward to cooler nights to drop the surface water temperature. Back to the currant fishing tactics.....snakes have been very popular on sinking lines with Mr Neil Pickup netting two doubles in two visits on them, best weighing over 17lb. Fish of the week goes to Mr Stuart Hambleton from Consett with a nice double caught on a worm pattern fished from a intermediate line. Plenty of big fish have been stocked this week plus another 6 tagged fished but none yet have been caught.......intermediate lines lads!!
