Check the water out before choosing your tactics.........

Before deciding on your fly or the line you choose to fish with ask us or study the water first. There is plenty of fish rising throughout the day but these are not the easiest to catch as they are switched on to a natural feeding pattern, and unless the weather assists you with a gentle breeze and plenty of cloud they will be a challenge to catch. The intermediate fishermen have had the best catches with olive leeches, vivas and dawsons fished around the 7 foot mark. The lower lake has had the aerator on from time to time with great success for the fishermen choosing to fish there, platform 4 and the last bench on the dam wall has averaged 100 fish a day when the aerator is on, but it can take upto 1 hour to pull the fish up there so be willing to wait. Fish of the week goes to Mr Paul Carter from Tamworth with a personal best caught on a white viva fished from a floating line. Other notable catches have been Mr Dave Williams from Sheffield with 22 fish in 4 hours all to buzzers, Mr Dave Burke with 14 fish to a mixture on intermediate line fished lures and Mr John Morris from Holmfirth with 12 fish (best 13lb) to buzzers and boobies fished on a slow sink line.
