A buzz of excitement as the fishing at Pennine hits top form...........

This week brings great fishing as the cooler weather and light rain earlier in the week wakes up the insect life, daddies, alder, hawthorn and even flying ants have been spotted drifting around on the surface much to the delight of Pennines hungry fish. Floating lines have been the best option as the fish have been in the top 4 foot of water, with the best flies being buzzers, cdc dries and even daddies. With the daddies try and strip them though the surface rather than leaving them static, this is a tactic that often works when the fish are high in the water. Sinking lines have still worked with the usual fly patterns such as cats whisker and olive fritzs working well but still around the 4 foot mark. Fish of the week goes to Mr Wayne Anderton from Bishop Auckland with good double caught on a black and green fritz fished from a sinking line. Top Angler of the week goes to Mr Dave Burke from Chadderton with 27 fish, with plenty in the 5lb to 7lb mark mainly to small home tied damsels and snake flies. Fish averages and rod averages have rocketed this week with the average fish weighing out at 4lb 7oz with a rod average of 8.5 per angler. There as also been 8 tagged fish caught with a total prize of £200.00 being paid out.
